Spring clean your body

Welcome to the first day of spring

A time for new beginnings
and to open up to new possibilities.

A time to Clear out the winter comfort foods,

 eat clean,

 stay hydrated

and include some of these foods throughout the week and start spring cleaning your inner self.

Leafy green vegetables: Enjoy them raw, in a salad, steamed, in juices.

Lemons: Drink ½ lemon with warm water every morning to get those digestive juices following. Squeeze on salads, over pasta, in dips, in juices.

Green tea: This antioxidant-rich brew is one of the healthiest ways to get more water into your system.

Sesame seeds: Sprinkle over salads, make tahini, make bliss balls and sprinkle over oats.

Fruits, fruits and more fruits.

Try this Clear green salad:
Dressing
1/4 cup olive oil
4 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 cup fresh spinach leaves
1 cup rocket
1 cup watercress
1/2 cup alfalfa sprouts
1 tablespoon sunflower seeds
1 tablespoon dried cranberries
1/4 cup mushrooms (uncooked)
1/4 cup grated fresh beetroot (not the canned stuff)
1 cup quinoa (cooked)
Cook quinoa using a pot, rice cooker or Thermomix.
1 cup quinoa to 1 1/2 cups water. (Try to rinse quinoa before using)
Once the quinoa has cooled down, toss all ingredients together and pour the dressing over.
Enjoy :)

No more beanies and winter scarves, it's time to get moving, walk, run, jog, do a handstand and get some spring in your step.

September is also the month of being refined sugar free.

So walk into your kitchen and start by throwing away any sugar you may have.

Eat any fresh fruits and vegetables and stay away from processed foods that are loaded with sugar. This means all fast food, fried food, candy, cakes, sodas, even most yogurts. Read labels.

That's a lot of sugar!

“Good sugars” are whole fruits.
If you need a little sweetness in your life use a small amount of honey, maple syrup, agave nectar or stevia.
Try preparing, making and cooking your own food for the month, this way you know exactly what you are eating.
I will include some recipes to follow in my next post and also on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Clearfoodandliving?ref=hl
Happy spring clearing
